Home » How to measure & fit your Doodles coat

As winter descends, our beloved dogs often face the brunt of cold and wet weather. Just like us, they need protection against the elements to keep them clean, warm, and healthy. Whether your furry friend has a thick double coat or a sleek single layer, chilly temperatures can impact their wellbeing. Ensuring they’re snug and comfortable is essential for their happiness!

When it comes to picking the perfect size coat for your dog, it’s crucial to get it just right! A coat that’s too small can be constricting and uncomfortable, while one that’s too large might slip off or cause your pup to trip over long sleeves and could allow rain and dirt to seep in. You want a fit that allows them to move freely while providing ample coverage.

For those rainy days when you want to keep your dog’s coat pristine, look no further than the Doodles waterproof coat! It provides full-body coverage – including the belly and legs – ensuring your pooch stays dry no matter how muddy the adventure gets. And if you’re after something that helps them warm up after a wet or chilly walk or you need to help speed up the drying process after a pampering bath, then the Doodles Drying Robe is an absolute must-have! This innovative design covers all four legs and features incredibly soft super-absorbent microfibre material that soaks up moisture while keeping your dog snug as a bug – it also keeps your car, furniture and carpet clean from a zoomie soggy doggy!

With these fantastic options in hand, you can embrace winter walks & pampering bathing session knowing your furry companion is well-protected against whatever Mother Nature throws their way!

To understand what size dog coat or drying robe your dog needs for a comfortable fit, measuring more than their back length is essential. We provide measurement guides for back length, neck diameter and chest girth as a combination of all these measurements will give you the best gauge as to what size would be suit your dog.

Here is a rough guide to coat sizes by breeds, however, please note that some breeds vary in size – in particular doodle breeds – there is no standard, so please be sure to measure accurately for the best fit.

Not all dogs find it difficult to have a coat or robe placed on them or around their heads, especially if they are not use to it. Therefore, we encourage you to understand how to get your dog used to wearing a coat.

Before you even think about putting the coat on, start by laying it on the floor. This simple step allows your dog to sniff and explore this intriguing new item at their own pace. To make it even more enticing, sprinkle some of their favourite treats right on top of the coat! This will not only pique their interest but also create a positive association with the coat.

As they show curiosity and approach the coat, shower them with praise and encouragement! Celebrate each little step they take towards embracing this new accessory.

1 – Get the dog’s head through the sweater, leading them through the neck hole with a treat, if required. Make sure your dogs head is all the way through, including the ears.

2 – Put the first arm through the sweater’s opening followed by the second arm. Make sure the arms are all the way through, and your dog’s claws do not get caught on the coat sleeve.

3 – Pull the body of the coat down the length of the back.

4 – Put the first leg through the leg hole followed by the second leg. Again, make sure the leg is all the way through.

5 – Adjust the arms and legs of the coat over the arms and legs of your dogs to make sure they are covering as much of your dog’s body as you want.

6 – Stretch the back of the coat to make sure it fits all the way to the base of your dog’s tail.

7 – Enjoy wet and muddy walks with the Doodles Coat or super-quick drying after a bath with the Doodles Drying Robe now that your dog is all set with their new coat!
