The Mikki Doodle Thinner Scissor is perfect for thinning the coat and blending it for a more forgiving cut and finish. The scissors, also known as blenders, blending scissors or blending shears, have long blades that are best used for a full body cut to keep your Doodle looking cute, clean & comfortable.

Thinners are used to remove and thin the coat in bulk whilst helping blend the coat from a clipper cut. Chunkers are used to thin the coat and help provide a more natural finish by erasing harsh scissor marks without messing the blend.

Made with sharp & durable semi-convex blades ensures a clean and smooth cut with v-shaped teeth to help grip the hair. Semi-convex blades are a mix of both convex and beveled blades making these scissors ideal for novice and aspiring groomers. Whilst beveled blades are slightly blunted, convex blades are sharper than most - therefore a semi-convex blade provides a sharp edge to allow control and precision but safety for a learning first-time groomer. The simple and smooth tension screw makes it easy to adjust the blades tension for the smoothest cut.

Use with the Mikki Doodle Comb to brush away any loose hair.

It is important to take time during this process to ensure your dog is happy & comfortable. Be confident when you groom to try and get the style you are after. Remember, it will always grow back!

    Product Overview

Maintenance & care is important to get the most out of your scissors. Without taking good care of your scissors, you can cause irreversible damage that will impact their effectiveness.

    Correct scissor tension:
The tension screw on the scissors adjusts the tension between the two blades and it is important that your tension is adjusted to the correct level. Incorrect scissor tension can lead to damage.
If your blades are too loose, the scissors will fold the hair instead of cutting it whereas too tight and the blades maybe become damaged.
The ideal tension for your scissors is for it to be as smooth as possible. The best way to measure this is by holding your scissors upright from one handle and open the blades wide. When you let the free blade go, it should close to a rough 30-degree angle. Too tight and it will leave a wider angle and too loose the blades will close entirely.

How to care for your scissors:
Each pair of scissors come with a polyester fibre cloth to wipe down your scissors after every use to keep them at their best. Ensure you keep your scissors stored safely in their case between each use to protect the blades and their alignment.
Be sure to oil regularly (use scissor oil) to help prevent moisture and bacteria from building up on the blades and protect against rusting. Keeping your scissors well-oiled will prevent the tension screw from becoming stiff and the scissors feeling smooth. Apply one to two drops on the blades and around the tension screw and work them into the scissors - then wipe away any excess liquid.
Scissor blades will naturally blunten over time, so we recommend that you get your scissors professionally sharpened - the frequency depends on how often you use them. A sign of when they need to be sharpened is when they are catching, aren't cutting smoothly or not providing a quality finish that you are use to.
